I'm a Turkey 02:52
Well, I don’t bite But people like to bite me I am the center of attention once a year on a-Thanks-a-giving Here’s something you probably didn’t know I was domesticated down in Mexico Started as a simple meal, with very wide appeal And now they stuff me with a duck and another bird that clucks I should’ve been The national bird Ben Franklin meant it as a diss But it’s the best idea that I’ve ever heard Well I lost out to the eagle People claim they are more regal I don’t mean to be rude, but does an eagle have a snood? Or a beard? Or a wattle? Or a head that’s got caruncles? I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I don’t wanna be a sandwich or a burger or some jerkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey You might think I look absurd, but I’m the greatest of the birds I’m a turkey Well I don’t walk Yeah I only strut And you would too if you had iridescent feathers coming out of your butt! The men are called Tom, it’s true And the boys are called Jake The girls are just “hen” That doesn’t seem fair, no! They should have called them Kate or Sue or Jane or why not Jenny! Oh! I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I don’t wanna be a sandwich or a burger or some jerkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey You might think I look absurd, but I’m the greatest of the birds I’m a turkey And I go gobble gobble gobble Gotta wattle, wattle, wattle I got carunkles on my head Let’s do it all again I go gobble gobble gobble Gotta wattle, wattle, wattle I got carunkles on my head “What’s a caruncle?” It’s those funny little bumps that make us look a bit like punks I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I don’t wanna be a sandwich or a burger or some jerkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey I’m a turkey You might think I look absurd, but I’m the greatest of the birds I’m a turkey

Back in the day I was feeling low I didn’t know - how to get my money to grow Though I worked hard enough it was tough to pay for stuff To make rent at the end of the month - I thought maybe I should plant a money tree But my friends said, Louie, we strongly disagree (it's Louis.) Let us give you some advice that’s smart and true And if you like we’ll sing it to you Ooh financial literacy Know how to grow your money Know how to grow your money Ooh financial literacy Just wave your hands in the air If you’re gonna be a millionaire at any age you can save a small amount Just make your folks open up a joint account Save a dime a day for a year that’s baller You’re banking thirty six dollars! (Holler!) If you save thirty eight don’t spend it Got a hot index fund I recommend it And if the market fell sit tight don’t sell When it’s low gotta hold until the market’s ascended Ooh financial literacy Know how to grow your money Know how to grow your money Ooh financial literacy Just wave your hands in the air If you’re a monthly credit card payer Here’s a tip: Set a budget, try not to fudge it ‘cause a budget sets the trend for how much to save and spend If you see a loan that seems great, (yo wait) Are they gonna inflate their interest rate? Before you get saddled with debt you’ll regret Shop around and find a lower rate - that’s a safer bet Finally Save save save that’s the policy It’s gotta be if you gonna get to be debt-free Ooh financial literacy Know how to grow your money Know how to grow your money Ooh financial literacy Throw your hands in the air If you’re a negotiator All the kids in the yard say hey Momma’s got an IRA And she asked her employer (a civil rights lawyer) If she’ll match her on a 401(k) Got college on your mind? Well that’s just fine You can sign up online for a tax free 5!2!9! Every dime that you find You can deposit it, in a bit, you’ll admit It’s lit to be a college graduate 4 Ooh financial literacy Know how to grow your money Know how to grow your money Ooh financial literacy Just wave your hands in the air If you’re making plans for your heirs If you save enough wealth for yourself don’t be selfish Give a little away for your community’s health, if you see a friend in need then indeed your intent should be to share what you’ve got without thought be a mensch, Louie! (it’s Louis) that’s what my friends taught me way back when And it mostly worked except now and again I suffered hard times, the downfall of me I could not outsmart inequality Cause our economy is like a light shone through a prism Money’s disbursed unevenly (hashtag capitalism) And we’re always gonna scrape and fight for crumbs until we get universal basic income Ooh financial literacy Know how to grow your money Know how to grow your money Ooh financial literacy Just wave your hands in the air If you gonna be a millionaire

Lyrics: Minneapolis, it's the most musical city That’s situated both east and west of the high and mighty Mississippi Minneapolis, it’s a thrill to show you around Our irreducible, very musical town We might not have Carnegie hall, the Fillmore East or West The Apollo? No, no Hollywood Bowl But we know the third coast is the best First Avenue, the Entry too And historic Northrop Auditorium at the U Contiguous with another artsy town We’re at the center of the center, hallowed musical ground Minneapolis, it's the most musical city That’s situated both east and west of the high and mighty Mississippi Minneapolis, it’s a thrill to show you around Our irreducible, mostly beautiful, very musical town We got Dylan, Hoosker Dü, Morris Day and the Time, The Andrews Sisters, Semisonic, and more that don’t rhyme I think by now it’s clear we’ve done enough to convince Wait, have we forgotten someone big? Oh right! We haven’t mentioned Dessa, Marcy Playground, Soul Asylum, Atmosphere Sun Volt, and the Suburbs, Big Thief and Trip Shakespeare The Jayhawks, Mason Jennings, oh and Brother Ali So many great musicians come from here don’t you see? Louis: Hey Dan. That is a great shirt you’re wearing. What do you call that pattern? Dan: Oh this? It’s paisley. You know, I love to put this shirt on and go for walks in the park. Paisley in the Park, that has a nice ring to it. Louis: It does. Paisley in the Park... You know...that makes me wonder - Are we sure we’ve named all the big musicians from this area? Are you sure we’re not forgetting someone? Dan: Oh my word! We totally are There’s Lizzo, The Replacements, Hippo Campus and Low Babes in Toyland, Frances Densmore and Maestro Osmo Judy Garland, Phil Brunelle, it’s a very long list! But we forgot the biggest name of all ‘cause we missed Both: Olive Fremstad! Louis: Of course! The famous opera singer. Born Anna Olivia Rundquist in Sweden, she grew up in Minneapolis, and she’s best known for singing the title character in Richard Strauss’s Salome at its 1907 New York premiere, helping inaugurate a little phenomenon called “Salomania.” Dan: it would have been SO embarrassing to forget Fremstad. That’s everyone, right? Le’s continue with the tour. Louis: One more chorus first? Dan: You betcha! Minneapolis, it's the most musical city That’s situated both east and west of the high and mighty Mississippi Minneapolis, it’s a thrill to show you around Our irreducible, mostly beautiful, deeply musical hometown.

What is a family? Well, there ain’t one way for a family to be It’s the people you love in a giant tree yeah That is a family What is a family? Just remember that genetics ain’t destiny It’s somethin’ you feel more than somethin’ you see Tell us about your family And I got my mother, my sister, my brother, And my grandma in my family And I got my mama, my papa, my brother, my sister who’s adopted in my family We might not look alike, but we all love to bike And to read and to hike and makin’ music on the ophicleide What is a family? Well, there ain’t one way for a family to be It’s the people you love in a giant tree That is a family What is a family? Just remember that genetics ain’t destiny It’s something you feel more than something you see Tell us about your family I got a sister, a sister, we used to call her mister ’til she told us she's a sister in my family And I got my papa, my daddy, and no one else but me in my family We might come from different mothers, but we all love each other, we fight and we shout — like every family no doubt — we make up with a hug, it’s what a family’s all about, singin’ What is a family? Well, there ain’t one way for a family to be It’s the people you love in a giant tree yeah That is a family What is a family? Just remember that genetics ain’t destiny It’s something you feel more than something you see yeah Tell us about your family So many ways to be together! A family is kind of like a comfy sweater You can go far away or stay close by A family are the people that are by your side No matter how you vote or love or hold a fork Each family brought together by a different stork It’s the things we share, it’s because we care That’s what makes us family instead of being solitary

So I’ll just be on my way I’ll take myself to bed I’ll take myself to bed, I’ve said goodnight and there’s nothing more to be said You should kick back and watch TV. Or go on, finish that Spelling Bee I’ll take myself to bed I’ll fetch myself a glass of water I can find my own stuffed otter I don’t need one last goodnight song That would make the process too long So you don’t worry, here’s a warnin I’ll sleep in tomorrow mornin But right now I best be goin' Off to sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep So, I’ll take myself to bed It’s the least I can do in this here homestead Unless you think you need to give me one last kiss ‘Cause one day you’re gonna miss Tucking me in every night And checking the night light Yeah you and I both know That everyday I grow So fine, I’ll let you take me, let you take me, let you take me Up to bed
